D’Aquisto New Yorker DQ NYE Antique Violin Burst (Japan Custom Shop) 1 of 300

Description

The name of Jimmy D’Aquisto is well known among the world of guitar builders. Arguably one of the greatest luthiers in history, and almost surely one of the best in terms of archtop guitars. Over his career he only made 371 instruments, which as you might imagine, given his pedigree and ability, are sort after and change hands for many tens of thousands (in fact he made the first guitar to be valued at 1 Million Dollars)

However all is not lost for those who wish to play and own a D’Aquisto guitar. A ‘small’ Japanese company by the name of Aria have bought not only the rights to the D’Aquisto name, but also the plans and some of the equipment involved with the production of the original 371 guitars. So what does this mean for the player? It means you can purchase a guitar that was essentially designed by a legendary luthier.

It has been built with choice woods and hardware, reflective of both the ethos and quality D’Aquisto guitars are famed for. This means you’re getting a high spec guitar with years of history and build design and not paying the aforementioned 10’s of thousands, what’s not to love?
